Smoked Maple Manhattan

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Growing up in Vermont one of Aaron’s favorite smells ever was late fall when people first started using their fireplaces.  The moment he walked outside his senses were flooded with chimney smoke, dried leaves, piles of firewood and damp earth.  That uniquely seasonal combination remains intoxicating to this day.  Throw whiskey into the equation with hint of maple and umami (what’s better than sweet, savory, smoky, rich) and it’s autumn in a glass.

Ingredients

Equipment

  • Beaker
  • Bar Spoon
  • Cocktail Strainer
  • Fine Mesh Strainer
  • Martini Glass

Timing

Active Time: 5 Minutes

Total Time: 5 Minutes

Yield

1 Cocktail

  • Mix Cocktail

In a beaker place 4-5 ice cubes, bourbon, sweet vermouth, maple syrup, and MSG.

Use a bar spoon to stir the drink until the cocktail has chilled, about 10 seconds.

  • Strain and Garnish

Cover the beaker with a cocktail strainer and pour the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer. The second strainer will prevent any ice shards from further diluting the drink.

Mist the top of the glass with the Alice and the Magician “Autumn Bonfire” Cocktail Aromatic spray.
