Rustic Devil’s Food Cake Mix

Gift your friends and family this easy to bake and sinful to savor cake mix and watch them light up with delight. Or mix up a couple of batches and tuck them away in your pantry for that rainy day. Either way, this recipe will let you have your cake and eat it too.

Ingredients

  • 25.2g (3 Tbsp) Whole Egg Powder
  • 300g (1 Cup 2 Tablespoons) Sugar
  • 70g (8 Tbsp) Cocoa Powder
  • 165g (1 Cup) All-Purpose Flour
  • 6g (2 tsp) Baking Powder
  • 42g (⅓ Cup) Dry Milk Powder
  • 3g. (1 tsp) Glycerol Monostearate
  • 140g (1 Cup) Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 370ml (1 ⅔ Cup) Water
  • 150g (¾ Cup) Vegetable Oil

Equipment

  • Mason Jars
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Baking Tray and Non-stick Mat or Muffin Tins

Timing

Active Time: 15 Minutes

Total Time: 45 Minutes

Yield

1 Sheet Tray or 1 Dozen Muffins

  • Mason Jar

    Measure your ingredients out individually in separate containers.

    In a clean and dry mason jar, pour in the dry ingredients, slowly and build layers to get a beautiful presentable gift.

    Seal tightly with lid and decorate with ribbons, colored tissue paper etc.

  • Mix Dry Ingredients

    Preheat oven to 350°F.

    In a mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients.

    Using a whisk, gently mix the dry ingredients together, mix well to make sure the decoration layers are evenly distributed.

  • Combine Oil and Water

    Whisking constantly slowly add the water and oil and mix until combined.

  • Bake

    Spread on a nonstick, lined baking tray or muffin tins and bake for 10-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

    Remove from oven and place on a resting rack to cool and enjoy.
