Slow Cook Ribs

A simple slow cooked fall off the bone rib. Pared with our BBQ sauce is a match made in mouth watering heaven. They are slow cooked for a reason and it is well worth the wait.

Ingredients

  • Pork Ribs 2-3 Slabs (either baby back to St. Louis style will work)
  • 1 Recipe BBQ Sauce

Equipment

  • Pastry Brush
  • Roasting Pan

Timing

Active Time: 1 Hour

Total Time: 5 Hours

Yield

2 – 3 Slabs of Ribs

  • Prepare Ribs

Remove the membrane from the bottom of the ribs.

Rub with your favorite dry rub or you can use our favorite BBQ rub from our pulled pork recipe.

Preheat an oven to 225°F, if you prefer a smoker the temperatures will remain the same for this entire recipe.

  • Cook Ribs

In a roasting pan with a rack place the Ribs. Pour 1 quart of water in the bottom of the roasting pan. If using a smoker, place the ribs on the rack and monitor them closely.

If the ribs begin to look too dry they can be covered for the last hour or so of cooking.

Periodically brush the ribs with a small amount of our bbq sauce. This will make a great sticky glaze on the ribs.

Cook for 4 hours or until the ribs reach an internal temperature of 203°F.

  • Rest and Serve

Remove and allow the ribs to rest for 1 hour. Don’t skip this step as it allows the juices to redistribute properly.

To serve, slice each rib between the bone and serve with some BBQ sauce on the side.

These were awful, after four hours, the meat barely registered 180°. I cooked for another two hours at 300°, and it was nowhere near “fall off the bone.” The BBQ sauce was a hot mess. I didn’t have that chemical so used xantham gum. It was like a tasteless glue. Lots of work and I’ve had much much better ribd.
