WTF Plant-Based Ham: Roasted and Glazed to Perfection
Plant-Based Ham. Full Stop. This is one of the most asked about recipes and today’s the day we finally show it off. We’ve taken our vital wheat gluten and transform it into a perfectly seasoned seitan. We’ve taken it a step further and roasted it with a pineapple powder and maple syrup glaze. This plant-based analog is slice-able and shave-able, opening up the door for the best plant-based comfort food: ham and cheese sandwich. Follow along with Janie and Scott as we go through what it takes to create this delicious dish, on this week’s episode of WTF.

LOVE this!! I have a great vegan Turkey & Beef recipe, but have always been lacking on ham. Unfortunately I have developed a gluten intolerance, but I absolutely will try this and suffer through for just one day 😉 With that said, if you can do a meat recipe without Vital Wheat gluten in which the texture isn’t gelatinous, I would be SOOOOOO grateful!!!
Ham looked good. Does it have more of a chew than pig ham?
That looks fantastic! A recipe for plant-based roast ‘chicken’ which manages to avoid that VWG/seitan underflavor would be great.
Have you ever tried to make a plant based scallop? I’m thinking a plant based ceviche would be nice this time of year.
